We enjoyed our self-conducted tour within the vicinity of the station homestead where we viewed the original house, various farm animals, the old shearing shed and rusting military vehicles collected by a previous owner, Prince Mukrram Jan. Our tour finished with tasty muffins and coffee sitting on the shady verandah of the current homestead overlooking it's pleasant gardens. It is not a fine-dining affair but rustic and authentic - a true example of station life.
This is a great place to go bush camping for a week to so. We camped north side on the river for a week. Heaps of tracks to explore on this active cattle station. 10 min to Z bend gorge and Natures window. 15 min to Kabarri for supplies.
At around 8-9pm every night there is a foul-smelling scent. Wasn't able to put a finger on what was causing it but end up blaming it on the campsite's remote location and the difficulty to deal with these types of situations. Other than that, great campsite.
Just got home after 10 days camping here at Murchison House Station. Fantastic experience. Will definitely be back.
Great spot for camping and fishing. Brilliant scenery and tracks. Only down side was left camp for a day trip to national park, came back and had neighbours 100 meters away, camping so close should be discouraged.
