My partner and I were recently in Kalbarri over the Christmas holidays. On our first night we thought we would treat ourselves to a pub meal and save the cooking for later in the trip. I ordered the fishermans basket. What I received was anything but. I was served some overcooked seafood smothered in a soy sauce, and I mean smothered. This was not what I expected and quite revolting to be honest. There was nothing on the menu that stated it came with soy sauce, and one would assume a fisherman's basket is pretty much some fried fish with grilled squid etc. Rather standard. If you are going to create your own version make sure you put this in the menu. I returned the dish to the kitchen, and asked for another serve but without the sauce, only to be returned what looks like the exact same plate with a tiny bit of the sauce drained off. It was completely inedible. Salty seafood with salty sauce is just not a good combo. My partner then took it back for a second time, and asked for a refund. To top of this experience the girl who served us was extremely rude and miserable and I overhead two of the female bar staff talking in the bathroom about how cool it is to do drugs especially when you are at work. Avoid eating here at all costs. Clearly their staff need better training. We then went over to Giglai Tavern for some chips as I was starving after the somewhat 7 hour drive. Thank god they were able to accommodate us even when their kitchen was closing. We then only went to Gilgai's for the remainder of our holiday.

Food is goodKareoke night attracts some wannabie soloists.

I would say Pizza's were more 'homemade' than gourmet like the massive sign. Food quality was okay, but the staff/functioning seemed to be the issue. Inside was empty, outside was only half full, still a 1 hour wait for food, staffing ratio was about 1 per table and they still couldn't get things sorted. Odd when other cafes in town coped with the same number of punters with half the staff.

By far the most popular spot in town for dinner. Family friendly, good variety of food and a pretty good bar. Remembering you are in Kalbarri, value is pretty good with large portions.

Beautiful meal. Very busy Saturday lunchtime but meal arrived very quickly and it was yummy. Staff very friendly and deserve pat on back.
